WRAPPING UP CHRISTMAS

If you had a fresh-cut Christmas tree or other living holiday decorations this year, don't forget to compost or recycle.

My mom and her husband take their tree to their back yard area and lean it up next to an old picnic table they have that they use to feed the birds. The tree allows for birds to perch and sing while it enables my mom to hang additional food sources for them on it until Summer when it's completely dead and be used for wood burning.

If you don't have a compost or your area does not have green waste recycling you can go HERE and find a drop-off site near you for your living holiday decorations.

Be sure to put reusable decorations away neatly so you can find them easily next holiday season and you won't be tempted to go out and by new ones.

Wrapping strings of lights is always a challenge each year - using cores from wrapping paper rolls or paper-towel tubes or even a 2" dowel, rod or old broom handle works nicely to wrap the strings of lights around to keep them tangle free.

Here are a few links to some great "How To's" for storing Christmas Lights:

1. How to wrap Christmas lights neatly so they won't tangle
2. How to Store your Chirstmas Lights Without Tangles
