Did you know that the city of San Francisco has required residents and businesses to not only recycle but also compost? Since 2009 the city has provided color-coded bins and does the composting for their residents!
500 tons of compostables per day have been diverted from landfills. Plastic bags were banned in 2007 and the city is working to zero waste by 2020.
