Oh my gosh, Americans are HUGE shoe 'whores' (pardon the adjective) but it's true! When was the last time you wore the same pair of shoes until you had holes in the bottom? Better yet, if you did, did you throw them away or have them re-soled?
If you have read my other blog(s) you'll note that I'm a big Sex and The City fan. Sarah Jessica Parker plays Carrie, who is a HUGE 'shoe connoisseur'. Lots and lots of comic jests are made about women and their shoes. Then there are the athletes with their own "line" of designer shoes, etc. etc.
The majority of anyone reading this blog entry could not even begin to understand what it would be like to have NO SHOES!!
With the onset of the New Year usually brings 'closet cleaning'...Out with the old, in with the new!
Consider washing those worn tennis shoes, buy some new laces for them, slap some polish on them and donate them! If not to this organization, your local homeless shelter.
I'm going to be challenging my circle of "girls" to be ruthless in the next couple of weeks so that we can put together a donation party up at the local drop off location in Chico.
If you've already "paired" down (sorry, couldn't help it) your shoe collection to the bare bones, consider a monetary donation. Here in California we are "flip flop" fanatics...they are everywhere. Even in the winter you see people in nothing but flip flops.
For $10, you can purchase a pair of flip flops (Men, Women and Children's sizes available)

or perhaps
Those Shoes Book
Soles4Souls is a shoe charity dedicated to helping those in need. As a shoe charity they collect gently worn shoes to donate them to those in need. The donation of shoes gives someone the hope for a better tomorrow — it is a great way to recycle shoes. Donate shoes today.
