For a good majority of my working life I have commuted no less than 30 minutes one way to work and upwards of 1.5 hours at one point in my life (that's one way). With long commute days came the "food short cuts" (aka fast food, convenience food). As a result I have struggled with my weight for sometime now.
About 4-5 years ago when my life took a turn after being laid off from work for the first time, I began making eating changes, first out of necessity and then for health reasons. 30 lbs later and lighter, I changed jobs again and was back to "super commuting" and hence the fast food lines became my friend again for lunchtime. It seemed liked everytime I would try to diet, one thing or another would get in the way and now another year has passed and all my hard work is behind me.
In my effort to be more "green" conscious and not continue to the waste problems of our society, I went on the search for reuseable lunch ware. In my search I found this site. Although mainly directed towards healthy lunches for children, why not use the same approach for myself? It will definiately help me with portion control and it will also provide for no waste lunches.
Although I won't be buying from this site, I will definately be using it as a base of for my changes with the menu ideas etc. I have my neoprene lunch bag, my stainless steel water bottle and now I just need to get some reusable containers for sandwiches and the like.
I'll be keeping my eye out at thrift stores and garage sales for lunch boxes and the like.
I wanted to share this in the event others may benefit from the idea as well.
