DRINKING WATER

It amazes me how we've come to be a society that has to have a bottle of water (or something else) with them at all times.

Growing up we didn't have this? We survived just fine!!

Drinking water from the tap is a lot better for the environment than buying it bottled. I can hear the gasps of horror now!

There is a boat load of information now available on the Internet citing the pros and cons of the bottled water industry. You can read up on that on your own.

If you MUST have your bottle choose glass or stainless steel for your container. I've re-used several types of glass bottles (even glass Mason jar) to drink water from. If you're afraid of "breaking it" - then go for the stainless steel. You can find them in just about any major retail stores now and there is a plethora of online stores that carry them.

The purpose of this post is to provide you with a great resource of information for people who receive their drinking water (tap) from a municipal resource. If you are a lucky soul to have an Artesian well - bravo!

Check out how your state's water rates and learn about potential contaminants HERE and then buy a filtration system accordingly. I found this site to be user friendly and far easier to assimilate the information on it than what is provided to us by our local water district. You can view your local water district information WITHOUT signing up for this website!

I found out water district's results to be quite interesting. I currently use just a Britta pitcher filter but have a higher quality filtration system that hasn't been installed yet (yeah, it's on the "honey do" list).

If your local water gets good marks and your biggest concern is the chlorine they add to keep the water from picking up contaminants as it travels through the cities system, then try filling a pitcher of water and letter it sit uncovered on the counter overnight. The chlorine will evaporate and later you can stick in the 'frig covered which will help to keep it cold.
