
Eating organic processed snacks seems like a good "green" thing, right? Well, truthfully, snacking on whole foods that are organically grown and purchased locally is really the greener way to go.
Cereals, crackers, chips, et al made from origanically grown ingredients is a good switch from processed 'junk' nutritionally, however, these processed items, although 'organic', still require a tremendous amount of energy to produce, package and distribute.
Find a local source, like a farmer's market, to purchase whole (and organic if possible) foods to snack on. This is the greener and more frugal (sometimes) way to go.
